Internet Computer Web3 Hackathon

JOIN THE 1ST GLOBAL "INTERNET COMPUTER" WEB3 HACKTHON
Web3 is the new phase of the web, which will transform the internet, and provide extraordinary opportunities to developers and entrepreneurs. This hackathon provides you with the chance to start building using the most advanced Web3 platform in existence today, and win large prizes, grants and seed investments in the process.

You can play a key role building out a new internet in which things like social media services are directly owned, run, and updated by their communities via governance tokens that control DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations). In this brave new world, social media and online games will blend with functionality from DeFi (Decentralized Finance) to become SocialFi and GameFi, and smash together in a new decentralized metaverse. DAOs, decentralized finance and tokenization will be pervasive, and developers and entrepreneurs will be able to use DAOs to fund their exciting new projects, from anywhere in the world — and the good news is, it's happening now, and any solid coder can take advantage.

The Internet Computer is a new kind of blockchain, which took years to develop, and was created by one of the best R&D teams in tech (browse their bios here https://dfinity.org/team). Through a massive R&D program that began in 2016, this team developed a new blockchain architecture powered by new cryptography (see how it works here https://dfinity.org/howitworks). This has created a game-changing blockchain that can, for example, directly host "mass market" social media services, and all their data and computation, on-chain. That means you can now build truly decentralized online services using only advanced blockchain code ("smart contracts"), and nothing else, using programming languages such as Rust and Motoko (a native language that can be quickly learned by any Solidity or JavaScript programmer), which compile to WebAssembly.

This is because on the Internet Computer, your blockchain code can serve rich, interactive web experiences directly to end users, and can store and process data with efficiency that is several orders of magnitude greater than the next most efficient competing blockchain. This means that you can build systems, dapps and decentralized services that run 100% from the blockchain, in a huge leap forwards, which means you don't need centralized IT like cloud services, or server machines in data centers, as you do when building on other blockchains. Using the Internet Computer, you can build truly decentralized dapps and services, with end-to-end security that online communities love, and leverage advanced tokenization strategies to fundraise and drive viral growth.

Join our Web3 movement to build a new generation of online services that are fully decentralized, by building them exclusively from blockchain code, then placing under the control of an advanced community DAO. Have the DAO run a "decentralization sale" to raise money for ongoing R&D from the decentralized ecosystem, quickly forming a growing community that supports your service, and gain posession of valuable governance tokens, which reward you for your success, and provide you with liquidity.

During this hackathon, decentralized services on the Internet Computer will begin creating an advanced type of DAO, called a "Service Nervous System", just by following a simple procedure, and then assigning control over their service to them, for the very first time... place yourself on the vanguard of Web3 and do the same with the project you develop.

Bonus opportunity: the novel "chain key cryptography" that powers the Internet Computer has recently been made available to hosted blockchain code via APIs. This means you can now write blockchain code that directly invokes code and controls token balances on OTHER blockchains, and create DeFi systems and meta glue that binds different blockchains together, without need for dangerous bridges.

For inspiration: take a look at what people have built already at https://dfinity.org/showcase/, or start coordinating with prospective team members using Open Chat at https://oc.app, a SocialFi chat service that runs from the Internet Computer, where your account will soon also be a wallet.

We wish to extend thanks to our generous sponsors and judges, including Polychain Capital, Electric Capital, Huobi, Foresight Ventures, and Tomahawk.VC, Animal Ventures, and more!
